Kızılay-Batıkent Metro which takes place in the  Ankara Urban Transport Master Plan of 2015 was selected  to be the first phase of the Mass Rail Transit Network of Ankara. The line construction started on 03.29.1993. 

The Metro route which is giving service to the public starting from Kızılay and continuing to Ulus, Yenimahalle, Demetevler, Ostim and Batıkent is 14,661 meters in total length. This system started operations in December 28, 1997 with 12 stations and 108  wagons (18 trains each with 6 sets of wagons).
